Today in Oceanography, the lecture was on the history of the science. We started off with the Lapita people who started island hopping and mapping their locations with stick charts as early as 5000 BC. Isn’t that incredible?
I’m trying to figure out which of my drunk-adventure text posts to delete. Oh geez. I should know by now that anytime I decide to have a drink I’ll get drunk because I’m such a lightweight. By the end of drink 2, I’m gone. It’s sad, really.
Oh, and I don’t understand how I didn’t lose any of my beloved followers. But then again, stupid drunk people are a good source of cheap giggles, so. But I lose followers over whale spams and not drunk spams. I don’t comprehend.
But yesterday was super fantastic in general. Natalie and Anne and I basically ate our way around New Orleans. First stop, St. James Cheese Company. I’m literally love cheese. I have deep feelings about cheese. I need to take a class on it so that I can be a proper cheese snob. Anyway, we got sandwiches and a cheese board to split. Nomnomnom. Then we went to Sucre for dessert and I had a cupcake that was not only delicious but also sparkled. It literally sparkled. Sparkling cupcakes. Then we went to the New Orleans art museum! It was super fantastic. They had some really gorgeous Monet pieces. I think my favorites were the Romantic paintings of greek mythology. And then we went to Acme Oyster House to prove to Natalie that oysters can be delicious ( she acquiesced). THEN we went to Rouse’s to pick up, *drumroll* the wine, and more dessert. I told you. We just ate all day long.
Then we ate drank, watched 1\4 of Midnight in Paris, ran to get more wine ( Natalie and I finished off the first one ), came back and finished it. Let me just say, Tipsy Erica + Hiddles movies = saaaaad combination. Like, pathetic sad. Then we finished Midnight in Paris but I already want to re-watch it because I was too drunk to appreciate it. By the time Hemingway came in to the movie, I was already whoozy.
And today was also a lovely one. Went to the zoo with my mom and had a nice lunch ( again at St. James…) and the afternoon holds a potential visit to my lovely sister.
Hellooo.
My weekend has been fast-paced and filled up with lovely things. ( hence the not-tumbling you have witnessed).
In a quick word, I’ve been spending time with friends & family ( saw someone today I hadn’t seen since NEW YEARS & I used to spend every weekend with her. Damn you, distance!).
Aaaaand today was the first day of my internship. Well, it was really kind of an orientation\paper signing\people-meeting sort of day. Which was really nice but nerve-wracking all at the same time. I mean, who likes being the “new intern”? Haha. But it really is grand. People are lovely. Animals are amazing. I think this is gonna be just wonderful.
Annnnd then I drove the three hours back home to make it just in time ( or really, two hours late ) to my sister’s BABY SHOWER. I missed the relatives but made it just in time for cake, coffee, friends, and baby clothes.
So now, I’m eating dinner with my sister ( btw, if you love adorable people, you might love her ) & relaxing. Another busy day week ahead!
